Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) was established 1st of July 2015 as a merger of four separate institutions. NIBIO is owned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and researches and provides knowledge about food and plant production, the environment, maps, land use, genetic resources, forestry and socioeconomics.
