NIBIO
Norwegian National Forest Inventory (Landsskogtakseringen) was established in 1919 as the world's first nationwide assessment to monitor forest resources and development. The assessment is carried out by the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO).
Data and results provided by the Norwegian National Forest Inventory form an important basis for national forest policy decisions, and international reporting in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Norwegian National Forest Inventory has been constantly evolving, and today remote measuring from satellites and aircrafts are used for various purposes in forestry assessment and monitoring.
In 2019, the Norwegian National Forest Inventory celebrated 100 years with its own anniversary and book.
